Macau & Zhuhai (Part 2)

11-16 Feb 2009
Continue from Macau & Zhuhai (Part 1)

Day 3: 13/2/09 (Zhuhai)
For breakfast, we went back to the same restaurant- XinHaiLi(新海利) for HK dim sum. I just can't understand why was the restaurant be so packed even during this time of so-called recession.

We then decided to go shopping!!! Yeah!! Because me and my mother felt that our luggage were still empty. We were not satisfied yet. After asking around the locals, we decided to go to Gongbei Underground Shopping Plaza, a.k.a. Port Plaza Shopping Mall(拱北地下广场), which is the largest comprehensive commercial center in Zhuhai, which is adjacent to the Gongbei Port Combination Examination Building. It is very very big oh!!!! The gross building area is about 120,000 m2. I has 3 levels of basements, B1 is shopping area, B2 is shopping area and long-distance bus terminal & taxi station, while B3 is car park. Basically, you can get anything that you want, you just need to name it! Just one thing that I didn't like in China is that we need to waste time bargaining for the prices, but most of the staff were friendly. We bought handphones, clothes, bags... etc.

Outside of the Port Plaza after some shopping.. Not too many shopping bags oh!

Dinner at another chinese restaurant, 益健海鲜大食坊 (拱北口岸市场三楼)which was similar to Xin Hai Li Restaurant, but lower class when compared in general and even more crowded. We chose and picked the seafood and dishes that we wanted and then returned to our seats. To our surprise, they food served quite fast even though the restaurant was full. The price was cheaper too! And yet the food was delicious.

We ordered the similar food... we had scallop again.... hehe!!! Because it's damn cheap... Cooked in different style this time, soy sauce. The scallop was priced at RMB12/pcs, which was RMB3 lesser than Xinhaili. Photo on the left was Stir fried mixed seafood & vege.

We had sea cucumber again as it is non-cholesterol and my dad's favourite, mini buddha jump over the wall, shark fin soup, roast pork & etc. However, we missed out their famous chicken dish!!! We only saw the signage on our way out. Sigh!! Next time perhaps...

Half way down the stair, we discovered another retails and wholesale places located on 1st floor of the same building 拱北口岸市场二楼. Then, of course my mum bought more dried sea products & herbs, which was even cheaper than what we bought yesterday.

Gong Bei Port at night.

It's best for shopping at night and we went to Ying Bin General Plaza (迎宾百货广场), we didn't spend too much time as the stuff were too costly. I wondered why is standard of living in Zhuhai so high?

When we returned to our hotel, the manager invited us for foot massage again... But we were too sleepy and tired. Furthermore we need to save some time to pack, as we are leaving tomorrow.

Day 4: 14/2/09 Sat (Zhuhai - Macau)
We decided to leave early to avoid long queue at the immigration department. Therefore, we checked out after a quick breakfast. We decided to take the second exit, the Hengqin Port 横琴口岸, which was about 25 mins away from the town by taxi. On our way, I saw this Seafood centre (湾仔海鲜中心).I added this photo here to remind me to visit this place then next time I travel to Zhuhai.

There was no queue at all, I think because it' was not located in the town. After crossing the Zhuhai immigration, we had to either take shuttle bus or book a van (which was not free) to cross the Lian Hua Bridge to Macau. Overall, I think this way was far and troublesome. Upon reaching Macau, we reached Cotai , which we need to take taxi to our hotel that is located in Macau Island. I would not use this exit anymore for my next visit to Zhuhai.

MACAU!! We are coming!!!!
